Responsibilities

MV Transportation is seeking a Scheduling Manager who will work closely with operations to ensure manpower is available to meet the needs of the service.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain professional demeanor and appearance
  • Assist operations staff, cover any and all shifts as needed
  • Establish a working knowledge of the CBA as it pertains to operator bidding, scheduling, etc.
  • Assist Planning Manager with all aspects of run cutting
  • Ability to place all runs which have been cut from the blocks into weekly work packets
  • General Bidding - conduct orderly bid according to provisions outlined in the CBA
  • Trapeze – perform run cutting functions within the required program
  • Create bid forms for general bidding purposes
  • Data entry to keep route/run comments and turn by turn instructions current for each paddle
  • Scheduling of additional service - scheduling of an event and ensuring an operator is available to perform the service
  • Create paddles for additional service based on the times provided by the client
  • Ensure that the operator seniority list is always in correct order in accordance with the CBA
  • Maintain overtime/force seniority list - ensure that all operators past and present are either added or removed from the overtime list
  • Track PTO, authorized absences, etc.
  • Process paid time off (PTOs), verify PTO/VAC (vacation) hours, day/days taken, enter data into appropriate spreadsheet
  • Maintain seniority list(s)
  • Maintain a current operator count - on a weekly basis an accurate account of all the operators is sent to the Director of Operations and the Director of Safety and Security (term, reinstated, graduating students, LOA, reassignments and active)
  • Manage all aspects of the daily schedules - assigning extra board, absence coding, vacations, PTO, FMLA/medical leave, light duty, reassignments, suspensions/terminations, approved leaves; posting of daily schedules in accordance with CBA
  • Maintain extra board - ensuring all the daily work is being fairly distributed amongst the extra board operators
  • Tracking daily/weekly overtime - verifying that overtime is being scheduled in accordance with the CBA
  • Daily audit of previous day’s work - double check absence codes, review dispatch notes regarding call offs, recoding of absences, ensuring proper pay times are in the system, adding/deleting travel times
  • Maintain operator scheduling database

Qualifications

Talent Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience as an operator in a public transit fixed route system
  • Ability to learn all system routes
  • Ability to become familiar with all vehicles operating in the service
  • Ability to understand client policies and procedures
  • Ability to gain knowledge of MV Transportation Employee Handbook and other policies
  • Ability to gain knowledge of MV Substance Abuse Policy and Procedures
  • Ability to receive Reasonable Suspicion Training
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to read, write and speak English
  • Good telephone skills
  • Good organizational skills/prioritizing skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to assist with run cutting
  • Daily scheduling
