Responsibilities

MV Transportation is seeking an Operations and Safety Manager to provide support, leadership and direction to assigned operatin

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for the daily management of on-road service delivery and compliance.
  • Supervises all staff assigned to perform under this Agreement.
  • Ensures all new hires meet minimum qualifications including DMV checks.
  • Performs employee counseling, recommends for re-training, and terminates as needed.
  • Effectively manages on-time performance and driver availability.
  • Creates reports and compiles data relating to operational issues and performance measures.
  • Reports to the scene of an accident/incident and prepares appropriate reports.
  • Transports drivers to drug testing site when required.
  • Performs unannounced audits at the drug testing center.

Qualifications

Talent Requirements:

  • Must have at least five (5) years of effective management experience within a fixed route environment.
  • Transportation Industry Safety experience required.
  • Possess excellent communication and decision-making skills.
  • Possess leadership abilities.
  • One-year accident/injury free driving record.
  • Must be available during all operational hours and on weekends as needed.
  • College degree preferred.
  • Certifications according to local contract requirements. 
  • Previous training and supervisory experience preferred but not required.  
  • Knowledge of local training program and local operations. 
  • Knowledge of project specific vehicles, components, and data/communications systems. 
  • Knowledge of State and Federal regulations and corporate safety programs and policies. 
  • Ability to read, write and speak English. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work with all departments. 
  • Ability to work independently and objectively. 
  • Strong organizational skills. 
  • Ability to effectively delegate tasks and provide appropriate supervision and follow up to department staff. 
  • Familiar with windows-based computer operating systems and Microsoft Office packages. 
  • Strong analytical skills.
