Responsibilities

MV Transportation is seeking a Maintenance Quality Assurance Specialist to ensure the safety, functionality, and cleanliness of a transit fleet by conducting detailed quality assurance (QA) checks on completed maintenance work and Driver Vehicle Inspection (DVI) reports. This position requires hands-on inspections, the ability to utilize diagnostic tools, and a mechanical background to assess the effectiveness of maintenance procedures and the safe operability of vehicles.

 

The Specialist also supervises utility staff responsible for bus cleanliness and fueling while ensuring drivers are provided with well-maintained, safe vehicles.

**This position requires the ability to work night shifts consistently, including extended hours as necessary to meet operational demands.**

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Vehicle Inspections & QA:
    • Conduct QA inspections on vehicle maintenance, including kingpins, driveline greasing (checking all four trunnions), and battery connections.
    • Review completed Driver Vehicle Inspection (DVI) reports for accuracy and proper handling.
    • Ensure vehicles meet safety standards and are ready to transport passengers safely.
  • Diagnostic Tools & Supervision:
    • Use vehicle diagnostic tools effectively to assess maintenance quality.
    • Supervise utility staff to maintain cleanliness, proper fueling, and basic servicing of the fleet.
  • Policy Adherence & Documentation:
    • Thoroughly investigate and document driver complaints per policy, escalating as necessary.
    • Provide accurate service information to interested parties, including management and drivers.
    • Remain familiar with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements and ensure compliance.
  • Other Responsibilities:
    • Communicate effectively at all levels within the organization.
    • Accurately document findings in computer systems
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Talent Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Understanding of vehicle mechanics and diagnostic tools without needing to perform hands-on repairs.
  • Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
  • Mechanical background with the ability to identify key maintenance quality indicators (e.g., greasing, battery connections).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Windows-based computer systems and familiarity with Trapeze Software and other relevant tools.
  • MUST have availability to work nights, including overtime, when required.
  • Ability to walk extensively and frequently enter and exit transit vehicles (up to 26 times per shift).
  • Experience in a maintenance-focused environment, preferably transit.
