Responsibilities

MV Transportation is seeking a Workers Comp Specialist to coordinate and administer the internal functions related to responding to work comp claims and coordinating with third party claims administrator on work comp claims to evaluate compensability, avoid litigation and resolve claims. Providing support to operations to assist with investigation and any discovery requests and respond to operations questions related to work comp claims and litigation.

 

Work Comp Claims Reporting Evaluation

  • Coordinate with operations as appropriate for WC reporting and injury investigation
  • Review Critical Injury Reports for escalation as needed
  • Data entry of custom data as needed
  • Coordinate with Safety on data collection, prevention, support
  • Secures and analyzes necessary information and documentation in the investigation of claims

Claim Coordination and Operations Support

  • Review TPA files for proper set-up, coding and diary
  • Conference calls with claim adjusters for ongoing strategies
  • Reserve/settlement authority within defined level
  • Recommend litigation avoidance strategies
  • Monthly reporting of claim activity
  • Corresponding with Operations on claim questions
  • Coordination of investigation details from ops as needed
  • Special projects, as needed

Work Comp Litigation Support

  • Participate in litigation strategy conference calls
  • Review defense attorney reports, as needed
  • Locating and coordinating (both locally and corporate wide) for person with most knowledge to assist with discovery, depositions and hearings
  • Manage the litigation process and facilitate settlements with help of the WC manager
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Talent Requirements

  • High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • Bachelor’s Degree, ARM – preferred but not required
  • Three (3) to five (5) years experience with claims and or previous management
