Responsibilities

MV Transportation is seeking an experienced Tax Accountant, who will be responsible for preparing various tax returns; reconciling tax general ledger accounts; researching and correctly applying state and local laws related to sales/use tax, real and personal property tax, business licenses; and working with auditors.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Analyze general ledger accounts charitable contributions, political contributions, dues/subscriptions, penalties, lobbyist expense accounts to ensure activity recorded in those accounts is correct.
  • Analyze intercompany payable and receivable accounts for foreign subsidiaries to be included in foreign sub tax returns.
  • Calculate and record interco interest inc/exp related to foreign and domestic subs.
  • Internal liaison with field and ADP for managing the Work Opportunity Tax Credit Program
  • Reconcile business license and other tax account sub-ledgers to the general ledger system.
  • Sort and distribute mail for tax department.
  • Prepare Gross Receipt Tax Returns, Business Licenses, Property Tax Statements and Sales/Use Tax returns.
  • Foreign Bank Account Reporting (FINCEN)
  • Tax Depreciation Analysis
  • State and local tax research
  • Prepare Form 3921 – Incentive Stock Option Exercise Forms
  • Other tasks as assigned

Qualifications

 Talent Requirements:

  • B.A. or B.S. in accounting. CPA is a plus, but not required.
  • One (1) to three (3) years accounting experience with emphasis in state and local tax.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team and as an individual contributor.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to juggle multiple fast-paced projects.
  • Ability to meet general accounting and tax filing deadlines and willingness to work extended hours to ensure the deadlines are met.
  • Ability to think outside the box and determine solutions to complex situations.
  • Strong interpersonal relations and communication skills.
  • Minimal travel (up to 5%).
  • Experience in a multi-company environment.
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office applications (particularly Excel). Lawson experience is a plus.
