Responsibilities

MV Transportation is seeking a Payroll Supervisor to direct and manage the Baltimore Maryland Division’s Payroll operations while providing leadership and supervision to payroll personnel at the Baltimore Maryland Division #85.  This position is responsible for overseeing  payroll administration ensuring compliance with company policy and applicable wage and hour laws, supervising payroll staff, resolving complex payroll matters, and partnering with Operations Management and General Manager to ensure payroll operations are conducted accurately. Efficiently and in compliance with all applicable requirements.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Directly supervise Payroll clerks, Payroll Reconcilers, and other payroll staff.
  • Hire, train, coach, evaluate, discipline, and recommend termination of employees.
  • Conduct performance evaluations.
  • Assign work and prioritize work.
  • Approve schedules, time off, and overtime. 
  • Ensure staffing levels meet payroll deadlines.
  • Develop employees through coaching and mentoring.
  • Make recommendations regarding hiring, promotions, compensation, and disciplinary actions that are given particular weight.

 

Payroll Administration:

  • Direct and oversee all payroll processing activities.
  • Ensure payroll is process accurately and timely.
  • Review Payroll reports and reconcile payroll discrepancies.
  • Ensure compliance with company payroll policies, and federal, state, and local wages and hour laws.

Qualifications

Talent Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent. College degree preferred in Accounting.
  • Data entry, payroll processing, and clerical experience. 
  • Supervsiory experience required
  • Accounting or Finance experince a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills. 
  • General knowledge of windows-based computer operating systems. 
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English. 
  • Effective written and oral communication skills. 
  • Strong customer service skills. 
  • Ability to work independently and follow directions. 
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
